We love Iowa in the summer. Here's a taste of Iowa as we saw it last weekend, in the intense heat and humidity of August - the Iowa corncrib gazebo (a corn crib lined with screen) in front of the manure spreader planter, the Iowa swimming hole, and a barn quilt, one of many you see all over the country side.
My father's family is from southeast Iowa, Albia, and also Page county in the southwestern part of the state. Many are buried in the local cemeteries. We live in the Deep South, and I have traveled through Iowa on I-80 several times. Still haven't had the opportunity to get to where my family lived, but hope to this summer. I'll keep reading your wonderful blog to enjoy the state from here.
ReplyDeleteHave you typed Albia into the search box on the right-hand side of the blog...several photos we took there...it's a beautiful town! Hope you get to visit there.
DeleteI have lived in the South...Augusta, Ga and in I attended high school and college in Texas, as well as working in hospitals in both states...but we missed the Midwest!
