Sue's Vanilla Ice Cream
2 cups half and half
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 to 2/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix ingredients and chill several hours or overnight. Stir to recombine, and process in an ice cream maker until thick, about 20 minutes. ONLY POUR THE MIXTURE INTO COLD CONTAINER AFTER IT IS ASSEMBLED AND RUNNING. Place in a covered container and freeze to ripen, 4 hours or overnight. This hardens it and improves the texture.

**If you like more of an ice milk, like my husband does, use 1 1/2 cups heavy cream and 1 1/2 cups whole milk instead of the half and half.
