Reubens

I was looking for a different filling for main dish turnovers – and used one or our favorite sandwich fillings. We liked the flavor, and the way the cheese melted inside.  I think plain pie crust rolled out about the same size would be good too.
Ham Reuben Turnovers
½ Package Puff Pastry -- 1 sheet
4 Ounces Ham -- chopped (about 1 cup)
1 Cup Sauerkraut -- very well drained and squeezed dry
2 Ounces Swiss Cheese -- shredded (1/2 cup)
2 Tablespoons Mayonnaise
1 Tablespoon Chili Sauce -- or catsup
1 Teaspoon Dill Pickle Relish -- optional
1 Egg -- beaten
1 Tablespoon Water -- beat with egg
Thaw the sheet of puff pastry about 40 minutes.
Heat oven to 400°. Prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (or lightly grease sheet). Stir together the ham, sauerkraut, cheese, mayonnaise, chili sauce, pickle relish; beat the egg with water, set aside.
Roll the sheet into a 14 x 14" sheet, after thawing 40 minutes. Cut into 4 pieces, 7" square. Top half of each piece with about 1/3 cup of the mixture of the sauerkraut, cheese and ham.
Fold the dough over the filling and seal the edges with water, crimping with a fork. Continue with remaining squares.
Stir together an egg with a tablespoon of water and brush on top of each turnover.
Place the turnovers on the baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes or until golden.  4 servings
