Mocha Brownies

My daughter Amy volunteered to make these Mocha Brownies from the Better Homes and Gardens Hometown favorites for me. They are all fond of Brownies and this warm weather has been getting me down a little. So nice to have adult children. Great stage of their life.
Anyway, back to the brownies. They came out well and she brought some for her Father to sample. Had them with Homemade Ice Cream. Great treat. She said the brownies were simple to make and she would make them again. Hope you try them also. The recipe is from the Hershey Kitchens, Hershey Pennsylvania.
Mocha Brownies
1 ½ cups sugar
1 cup butter melted
¼ cup coffee liqueur or 2 tsp instant coffee crystals dissolved in ¼ cup water
3 eggs
⅔ cup all-purpose flour
⅔ cup unsweetened cocoa powder (not hot chocolate powder)
½ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
1 tsp instant coffee crystals
1 tsp water
1 16-ounce can vanilla frosting
Chocolate sprinkles (optional)
Grease a 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan, set aside. In a large bowl, stir together sugar, butter, and coffee liqueur. Add eggs; beat with a spoon just until combined.
In a small bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually stir flour mixture into egg mixture. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake in a 359° oven for 20 minutes. Cool completely in pan on a wire rack.
For Frosting, stir together the 1 teaspoon coffee crystals and the 1 teaspoon water, until dissolved; stir in to the vanilla frosting. Spread frosting over brownies; top with chocolate sprinkles if desired.
  Makes 36 brownies
