Easy barbecued Hamburger

This recipe from the "Best of the Best of the Midwest" is the kind that’s popular with both kids and adults.  This one is ready in 45 minutes or so; is economical for a beef recipe and goes well with homemade buns, salad or coleslaw, and other make-ahead BBQ fixin’s like potato salad or macaroni salad, baked beans or a bean relish salad, corn on the cob, etc.   It's perfect for football watching afternoons!  Keep it warm in a crock pot.
I like the ease of preparation; I can let it simmer while preparing the rest of the menu.  This was very popular kid's birthday party fare when I was young.
 Easy Barbecued Hamburger
  2 ½     pounds  Ground Beef
  1         cup  Ketchup
2         cups  Green Pepper -- chopped
  2         large  Onion -- chopped
  1         tablespoon  Dry Mustard
  3         tablespoons  Sugar
  2         tablespoons  Vinegar
  1         teaspoon  Salt

Cook hamburger, pepper and onions together until meat is browned and vegetables are tender.  Add remaining ingredients; cook 1/2 hour on low heat.  Serve on warm hamburger buns.
Fills 10-12 buns
