Our early June garden...

This is our early June garden - the photos taken this morning.  That is a Better Bell pepper, Spacemaster cucumber, Better Bush tomato - I counted 15 tomatoes on it - and Green Ice and red lettuces.  We have been having salads for several weeks now.  That is our most recent unpicked box of lettuces on top.  We have another box coming back, and one that was just started a couple of weeks ago.  The flowers are "Double Peppermint" supertunias.
The pot with the pinwheel in it is culinary sage, with 2 planters of parsley and 2 planters of chives behind the cucumber.  We also have a box of basil, rosemary plants, 4 pepper plants (Red Beauty, Yellow Bell, and green ones) and 2 tomatoes, all-in-all, a nice kitchen garden on either side of our patio.
Because of our low rainfall this Spring, we are having less bug and blight problems so far, but we have to water too.  We have had good success with the red plastic "mulch" on our tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers.  They reduce the need for watering and keep the soil off the plant foilage, reducing disease.  They are supposed to speed up ripening too.

Myrna has a new planting of raspberry bushes, as well as experimenting with growing celery from an old bunch, and both of us are trying garlic cloves in small pots.
