On the square in Mt. Pleasant...advertising the Old Threshers Reunion and Heritage Museum
with parades, country music, every kind of steam and horse drawn farm equipment, steam shovels, etc., entertainment, a huge campground that's a party by itself - it lasts until September 3rd.
On our trip through Southeastern Iowa yesterday, we actually saw farmers picking corn and putting it right in the bin without drying...it's still very dry here and what rain we got was too late for the corn crop. Corn harvesting doesn't usually begin in Iowa until late September and into October.
