I had some
pie crust on hand and a couple of apples too, so I had to try this recipe. We like hand pies, and I liked the idea for
walnuts and raisins in the mixture. I keep walnuts in the freezer all the time
and raisins on hand too. I don’t like
having to run out to buy those basics at the last minute when I can buy them in
bulk at a good price. You will want to
chop your apples fairly fine to get more in your turnover. The extras kept in the freezer for coffee

Golden Apple Bundles
2
Cups Apples -- peeled and chopped
1/3
Cup Walnuts -- chopped
1/4
Cup Brown Sugar -- packed
1/4
Cup Raisins
1
Tablespoon Flour, All-purpose
1/2
Teaspoon Lemon Peel
1/2
Teaspoon Cinnamon

Each Pie Crusts
Milk
Sugar
In a bowl,
combine the apples, walnuts, brown sugar, raisins, flour, lemon peel and
cinammon; set aside.
Roll pastry
to 1/8" thickness. Cut into 5 inch
circles. Spoon about 1/4 cup apple
mixture into center of each circle.
Moisten edges of pastry with water.
Fold over and seal edges with a form.
Place on a
greased or parchment lined baking sheet.
Bake at 450° for 10 minutes.
Reduce heat to 400°; bake 10 minutes longer.
Brush each
will milk and sprinkle with sugar; return to oven for 5 minutes.
