Golden Apple Bundles

I had some pie crust on hand and a couple of apples too, so I had to try this recipe.  We like hand pies, and I liked the idea for walnuts and raisins in the mixture. I keep walnuts in the freezer all the time and raisins on hand too.  I don’t like having to run out to buy those basics at the last minute when I can buy them in bulk at a good price.  You will want to chop your apples fairly fine to get more in your turnover.   The extras kept in the freezer for coffee time another day.   Try Myrna's Pie Crust for your crusts.
Golden Apple Bundles
2             Cups  Apples -- peeled and chopped
     1/3      Cup  Walnuts -- chopped
1/4      Cup  Brown Sugar -- packed
     1/4      Cup  Raisins
  1             Tablespoon  Flour, All-purpose
     1/2      Teaspoon  Lemon Peel
     1/2      Teaspoon  Cinnamon
  2             Each  Pie Crusts
                 Milk
                 Sugar
In a bowl, combine the apples, walnuts, brown sugar, raisins, flour, lemon peel and cinammon; set aside.
Roll pastry to 1/8" thickness.  Cut into 5 inch circles.  Spoon about 1/4 cup apple mixture into center of each circle.  Moisten edges of pastry with water.  Fold over and seal edges with a form.
Place on a greased or parchment lined baking sheet.  Bake at 450° for 10 minutes.  Reduce heat to 400°; bake 10 minutes longer.
Brush each will milk and sprinkle with sugar; return to oven for 5 minutes.
