Sunday in Iowa
This is the ornate Davis County, Iowa Courthouse in the square in Bloomfield, Iowa, part of the Bloomfield Square Historic District. It was completed in 1879. The clocks are original Seth Thomas.
This building looks as if it is a cousin of our Whatcom Museum here in Bellingham WA. It used to be the City Hall and was built in 1892. Please google and let me know what you think.
Yes, I would say they are very similar - both very ornate. It's also interesting that you are from Whatcom County...our dad's mother is buried in the Sumas IOOF Cemetery in Whatcom County! They homesteaded just across the border in British Columbia in the early 1900's; after her death her husband and children returned to the midwest. It's a small world, isn't it?
