We hopy you enjoy your hometown 4th of July parade as much as we like the ones in small towns in Iowa.
Around here, the parades have everything from kids on decorated bikes and trikes, to old tractors and new combines; along with fire trucks, ambulances, patrol vehicles, bands of all sorts, and large and small floats.
Our local band plays patriotic tunes at the regular Thursday band concert in the square before the 4th. Folks still sit in their cars and honk their horns to applaud the band, while many fill the park benches or bring their lawn chairs. The band concerts are a summer tradition in a lot of Iowa communities, with band members ranging from high school students to senior citizens.

I remember all of this from when I was a child. LOVED all of it! The 4th of July parade. Sweet Corn. Picnics. Band concerts in St. Cloud at Barden Park. Fun times! Happy 4th to all of you!
ReplyDeleteYes, those were the fun days, the 4th in small town Midwest. We still have the fireworks here, but sadly no parade.
DeleteBut...there are still parades in several small towns close by!
