Family Favorites Cappuccino Bars

 The Bisquick book, The Best Bisquick Recipes published in 2008 had this recipe for Cappuccino Bars.   I did make the full recipe as I was going to give some of them away, but this is a large pan of bars for us. They are quite coffee flavored, and moist, the raisins help keep them moist. I used golden raisins as that is the only type I buy.   This is a super easy recipe and if you want something quick to fix for guests or family for coffee time, I would recommend these. A glass of milk (or coffee for the diehards) and you have a great break time treat. 
  I would recommend baking them the full amount of time, they tested done, but we felt they could have baked a few minutes longer. Do not use the full amount of the glaze ingredients unless you want them frosted. I used half of the recipe for the glaze and had a great plenty.  Notice that you put the glaze on when they are still warm. 
Cappuccino Bars
1 ½ cups Original Bisquick mix
1 cup packed brown sugar
½ cup raisins
14 cup chopped nuts
2 tablespoons instant coffee granules or crystals (You could cut back here)
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ cup water
2 tablespoons shortening 
1 egg
  Heat oven to 350°F. Grease bottom and sides of 13 x 9 inch pan with shortening; lightly flour. In medium bowl, stir all bar ingredients, (I added the water and egg last, after shortening was stirred in.) until well blended. Spread in greased and floured pan.
  Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
1 cup powdered sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1 to 2 tablespoons cold brewed coffee or milk
  In small bowl, mix glaze ingredients, adding coffee a small amount at a time, until thin enough to drizzle. Drizzle over warm bars. Cut bars into 8 rows by 4 rows. Serve warm or cool. 
1 Bar: Calories 90; Cholesterol 5 mg; Sodium 75 mg; Total Carbohydrate 16g.
