From the Garden...New Lettuce with Cream Dresing

Cream dressing is just perfect for new leaf lettuce. It’s an old-fashioned favorite. My dad made it without the onion and poppy seeds for a very simple, delicious salad. You can use heavy whipping cream instead of the sour cream, although it usually costs a little more.

Cream Dressing
¼ cup sour cream or heavy cream
¼ cup Sugar or Splenda
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
2 teaspoons poppy seeds (optional)
2 tablespoons minced onion or chives (optional)
  • Stir dressing together until sugar or Splenda dissolves and dressing is creamy. Pour over salad just before serving.
2017 Cost: 35¢ for about ¾ cup (if using sour cream)
