Sunday in Iowa...

Bales of Stover
On a farm near Pella, Iowa
Home of Ver Meer Manufacturing, whose company developed the round baler, which revolutionized baling hay and cornstalks.  The stover, which is corn stalks and leaves, is used as livestock bedding.
We hope to lose more of the snow in the next 3 days or so before it gets below zero again.

  1. Hope you get that insulating snow. It's certainly saved us what with all of our frigid temperatures so far this winter. Have a good Sunday!

  2. Never heard of stover before.
The wind is really whoopin' here in Mississippi today.
    Am in because it's brutal.

  4. Such a lovely photo but I must say; It looks so cold there, it does give me the shivers.
No round bales of corn stalks here. Hay bales down this way which sell for $75.00 or more per bale.
Thanks for sharing yet another great Iowa photo.
    Stay safe & stay warm.

    1. I understand about the cold...I graduated from high school in Collinsville, Tx. and from college in Denton. See it's 65° there when it's 38° here this afternoon...the warmest day in awhile. Alvarado was probably even warmer.
