Nutty Applesauce Bread

Today I used the Homemade Crisco Quick Bread Mix from the Crisco Cooking book that Sue had made for me. We shared a batch of the mix, but I am going to make some up to have on hand in my freezer. It was good, fast and quick to make. The breads turned out well. I made two different recipes as the first went so well, I decided to make the second while the oven was still hot. This will be the recipe for the first bread, Sue is posting the bread mix. If you need something in a hurry, this would be a good way to go. No need to get out the mixer for this recipe. Just a bowl and spoon.
Nutty Applesauce Bread
2 cups homemade Crisco quick bread mix
½ cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup finely chopped nuts
1 egg
1 cup unsweetened applesauce
Preheat oven to 350°. Grease a 9x5x3 inch pan. Chop the nuts.
Combine Crisco mix, sugar, nutmeg, baking soda, cinnamon and nuts in a large bowl. Beat egg with a fork, stir in applesauce. Add to bowl and stir only until dry ingredients are moistened.
Turn batter into the greased pan. Bake at 350° for 45 to 50 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool for 10 minutes in pan on a rack. Remove from pan and cool slightly on a rack before slicing. Serve with cream cheese or butter.
