Sunday in Iowa...Mother's Day

This is my favorite old photo of our Mom; in her everyday clothes, sitting on the front steps of our childhood home.
On Mother's Day, my thoughts go back...
As a young housewife during the late depression and World War II, our Mom didn't mind being a small-town girl, raising a family.
She taught us valuable skills, how to cook, bake, clean, do laundry, sew, garden, can...how to take care of your house to make it a HOME.
She set an example of how satisfying a loving marriage could be.
She taught us the value of honesty and hard work and the pleasures of a job well done.  She encouraged us to get an education and think for ourselves.
But most of all, she taught us that while you can't always change life's circumstances, you can choose your attitude towards life.
You can choose to be happy...it's up to you.
