Betty's Soups and Breads

Betty Crocker’s Soups and Breads 2005 is a nice little 85 page booklet that has just that – a variety of soup and chili recipes, including slow-cooker recipes, and assorted quick bread, yeast bread and bread machine recipes.  They also featured a “make, freeze and bake dough” recipe.
Soup and bread is a favorite meal around our house, so I had to buy it.
I like these little booklets because there is a photo for each recipe. Myrna and I chose several recipes from this booklet to make and share with you in the links below.

Southwest Cheese Soup

Apricot Oatmeal Muffins

Tomato Lentil Soup

Cherry Streusel Muffins

Toffee-Orange Bread

  1. Book sales of any kind are dangerous places for me to be, Sue, and cook books for sale? Double whammy on my poor budget if I land in a place where cookbooks are plentiful and inexpensive!

When my kids were small, I was always sending away for free recipe collections; booklets from Quaker Oats, Jell-o, Hershey's Chocolate, and others became standbys for many years. I still have several of those trusted old friends in my kitchen to this day. This blog entry reminds me that some of those old friends have been neglected for awhile...perhaps it's time to call them back into service.

    Great posting!
