Caramel Butter-Pecan Bars

The Taste of Home Simple and Delicious cookbook has many simple and good to eat recipes. This is simple to make, and the younger set thought they were good.
However, they are very, very rich. I thought I had cut them small enough and we decided they should be smaller yet and eaten like a piece of candy.
As we are getting older the very rich desserts are just a little too much for us.
If you need a bar recipe done in a hurry however, this is your recipe.
Caramel Butter-Pecan Bars
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
¾ cup cold butter
1 - 12 ounce jar caramel ice cream topping, warmed
1 11 - ½ ounce package milk chocolate chips
In a bowl, combine flour and brown sugar; cut in butter until crumbly. Press into an ungreased 13 x 9 inch pan. Top with pecans. Drizzle caramel topping evenly over pecans.
Bake at 350° for 15 - 20 minutes or until caramel is bubbly. Place on a wire rack. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Let stand for 5 minutes. Carefully spread chips over caramel layer. Cool at room temperature for at least 6 hours or until chocolate is set. Cut into bars. (small bars)
