Everything Burgers

If you want to add a little zip to your hamburgers and cut down on the condiment mess, try this beef mixture.  My husband is a good grill chef, and these are quick and easy; we enjoyed them with a chopped salad with Honey French Dressing and my version of pineapple ambrosia, a combination of fresh or canned pineapple chunks, some maraschino cherries and a sprinkle of coconut.    I had homemade Whole Wheat Mustard Buns; one of our favorite bun recipes, in the freezer; I make them up to have on hand just for the grilling season.

                            Everything Burgers
1 ½    pounds  lean ground beef
3        tablespoons  Ketchup -- or chili sauce
3        tablespoons  dill pickle relish -- drained
1 ½    tablespoons  spicy brown mustard
     ¼     Teaspoon  salt
     ¼     Teaspoon  pepper
6         slices  American Cheese Slices -- (3/4-ounce each)
  6         Hamburger Buns
             Lettuce Leaves -- optional
Heat gas grill to medium or charcoal grill until coals are ash white.
Combine all burger ingredients in bowl; mix gently to combine. Form into 6 burger patties, about 4 1/2 ounces each.
Place burgers onto grill. Grill, turning once, 5-10 minutes, as desired. Top each burger with a slice of cheese; continue grilling until cheese is slightly melted.
Place lettuce onto bottom half of buns, if desired. Top with burgers and top half of bun.

Yield:  "6 sandwiches"

  2. YUM. Hamburgers is my husband's middle name :}
Now, top that burger off with nice large fried onion ring and you got it made. Store bought or homemade, I must say, I love onion rings on my burgers.

  4. This is a great idea. Is this your own recipe, or did it come from a cookbook? I will click over and get the Mustard Buns recipe, too.

    1. I saw a version of this idea a few years ago, this is my version, as I couldn't find the original. You'll like the mustard buns...one of our favorites.
