Sunday in Iowa...

The U.S. Post Office in Beacon, Iowa
Population: 494

Everyone rents a small mailbox inside the post office in small towns like this; it's a gathering place for the local news and gossip as well as the mail.  We liked the friendly facade, with bright red geraniums in the flower boxes.

  2. Somehow this is how I picture the post office in Crozel, Virginia that is featured in so many of Rita Mae Brown's Mrs. Murphy mysteries.

  3. Great Photo.
    Love seeing photos like this; especially Old photos of some of the old country churches. There used to be an old church at Knoke (not far from Pomeroy, Ia.) that I used to go to..waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back when :}(no longer standing) :{
