Fr. Henry Grothe was a pastor at St Elizabeth's church in Harper. It was he who arranged for this Priest's mound to be built. Both of his parents passed away in the old Priests' rectory in Harper and both are buried under flat stone slabs at the foot of the large standing angel which Fr. Grothe had imported from Italy. Fr. Grothe was my Grandmother's brother. He died in West Point, Iowa, and is buried in Calvary Cemetery there. (my email address is: acht57@yahoo.com)
Thanks for the information on this very beautiful cemetery. We were on a drive over to Keota, where my in-laws used to live, when we detoured through Harper. The cemetery caught our eye and out came the camera we always carry with us.
