The Future

A few weeks ago at morning coffeetime, Myrna and I had discussed where we wanted to go with The Iowa Housewife...and had decided that I would continue, only on Thursdays and Sundays.  She was not feeling up to the cooking and the chores involved in getting posts on the blog, but she enjoyed her interaction with our friends who commented and wanted us to continue as long as we could.

Starting next week, I will start posting on Thursdays and Sundays, and we will see how it goes.  I want to honor her wishes, and after so many years, I still enjoy blogging.  The time we shared working together on the blog...really a retirement hobby for us, brought us even closer together as siblings.

Our family and I want to thank all of you who took the time to share your thoughts and prayers with us.

Sue

  1. I also enjoy my blog. It's private and I only have a few readers, but I use it to keep up with what happens in our lives.
I'm sorry for the loss of your sister.

  5. Dear Sue,

I was so shocked to hear about Myrna's passing. I don't comment, but read your blog quite regularly...though I haven't been on for a week or two, so was very surprised to find out about your sister. I truly do send my prayers your way. I am also glad to hear that you will continue, as this blog is a lovely spot of common sense and the "ordinary" (in the best sense of the word) on the internet. All my condolences to you and your family.

    Best,

    Jen in NS

  6. This is a bit of happy news in the midst of such a sad time. Thank you for giving it a try, Sue. It's so good to hear that "The Iowa Housewife" benefited the two along with your readers. I have thought it wonderful that you and Myrna could share so much of life together - and that you shared some of it with us. I'm thankful for the opportunity to know you and Myrna (and some of your extended family) through your blog. Your combined knowledge and experience in the kitchen is pretty amazing!

  7. I am grateful that you are continuing your blog. It is a refuge in a chaotic world. Myrna will be missed. I pray that everyone who loved her will be comforted and consoled by our Lord.

  8. I, too, am very glad you will be continuing this blog, even on a more limited basis. I know you will be thinking of Myrna as you prepare and post your entries. She will still be with you and a true part of it for as long as you continue which I hope is a long time.

You two have given all of us readers a wonderful sense of family and how very important a homemaker and cooks position is in a family. I'll follow you as long as we're both in the kitchen making good food and lots of dirty dishes!

  9. Thank you for continuing the work that you and your sister started! You have both given a much-appreciated legacy and resource to the world through it. I have enjoyed SO MANY recipes from here! Your Oatmeal Honey Bread is our family favorite, hands down! And i always enjoyed the posts that were reminisces of "the good old days," and letting us chime in with our own memories.
