Use It Up...Fruit in Ice Cream

Our absolute favorite way to use any extra fruit is in ice cream, sherbet or sorbet.  How can you go wrong?  This takes me back to ice cream socials at our small town churches in Texas…everyone brought their ice cream maker and their best ice cream recipe and the social was set up outside…less mess.  It didn’t matter which church was having the social, everyone in town showed up, it was a great fund-raiser!
Here are some of our favorite frozen desserts using fruits of all kinds.

  1. Yum. that's a neat bowl for the kitchen aid. I need to get one of those.

    1. It's handy...the bowl I keep in my freezer all summer...ready to make ice cream. It's a set with the special beater and bowl.
With this I don't need to have a separate ice cream maker to store.

  2. How do you like the ice cream maker? It seems a lot of reviewers on the KitchenAid site have problems with the blue freezing liquid leaking out. I have an old Donvier manual ice cream maker. Haven't made it in years, but that blueberry cheesecake sounds really good!

    1. Sue, I have a Cuisenart ice cream maker that I really like and the blueberry cheesecake ice cream is excellent. You do have to store the ice cream maker but it makes great ice cream and sherbet.

    2. I agree with Myrna, I have had this kitchenaid ice cream maker 7 or 8 years, no problems. Perhaps the newer bowls have problems, I haven't yet.
