That picture looks so much like what the original (and only) bank in our small town looked like. It's still standing (part of a restaurant now) but has been added on to and remodeled extensively. Forty years ago we personally knew the president and vice-president of the bank along with all of the tellers. Locally owned it was, but now I have no idea what conglomerate owns it. Yes, sad.
We have a local bank (actually it's a credit union) and all the employees are local. They even sponsor local charitable events and other things. It's nice to still have them!
Cool looking bank building We live by a small town called Lillian Tx.; population, 465 as of the year 2000 of which the bank was robbed by Bonnie and Clyde back in the day. The bank is still standing strong
I lived in North Texas through high school and college...hadn't heard of Lillian, however. Collinsville, Texas is almost 4 times as large as it was when I lived there - amazing!

I remember. Sad that is gone.

Lillian is south & west of Mansfield by about 9 miles; between Fort Worth and Dallas
ReplyDeleteNice to visit with a fellow Texan!
