Do You Remember?

The old bank building in Fremont, Iowa...Population 704

 Do you remember…?
When your bank was locally owned?
When the stockholders were your friends and neighbors?
When you trusted the board of trustees?
When you actually stepped inside the bank to do business with friends?

  2. That picture looks so much like what the original (and only) bank in our small town looked like. It's still standing (part of a restaurant now) but has been added on to and remodeled extensively. Forty years ago we personally knew the president and vice-president of the bank along with all of the tellers. Locally owned it was, but now I have no idea what conglomerate owns it. Yes, sad.

  3. We have a local bank (actually it's a credit union) and all the employees are local. They even sponsor local charitable events and other things. It's nice to still have them!

  4. Cool looking bank building
We live by a small town called Lillian Tx.; population, 465 as of the year 2000 of which the bank was robbed by Bonnie and Clyde back in the day. The bank is still standing strong

    1. I lived in North Texas through high school and college...hadn't heard of Lillian, however.
Collinsville, Texas is almost 4 times as large as it was when I lived there - amazing!
