Sunday in Iowa...

This lovely apple tree in Lacey, Iowa has apples just waiting to be picked

  1. I may just start crying now. Our apple trees have very, very few apples on them this year. And the ones that are there have been attacked by the biggest flock of Bluejays we've ever had taking up residence in the area. :o(

    1. Yes, I would have to cry also. These hang over the sidewalk just waiting for a passerby to have a apple to eat.

  2. Our figs, muscadines and now pears have been wiped out by critters. Our apples never make like that.

    1. What a shame but I bet the critters are happy. Yes this a lovely apple tree and as I picked one I can say the apples are good.

  3. This reminds me of a large wild apple-tree that grew by the roadside in the rural area where I lived.
The apples were big and when baked or stewed would turn into perfect white fluff, a lovely texture.
I used to pick half a dozen bagfuls of them and freeze, cored or peeled and sliced, to use through the winter.
Then came the year when someone else discovered the tree and took *all* the fruit, a month before it was at its best too...

    1. What a shame, some people are so thoughtless. We used to pick wild blueberries when we lived in Northern Minnesota and I never picked all of them as most of my neighbors picked them also, and the Bears ate their share.
